New Member: Red Box Japan
The British Chamber of Commerce in Japan is delighted to welcome Red Box Japan to our ever-growing membership base.
Red Box Japan is the Japanese chapter of The Red Box Project, a grassroots charity founded in Portsmouth, UK, in 2017. Established in Tokyo in 2019, we brought the Red Box model to Japan to address period poverty and ensure that lack of access to menstrual products does not prevent students from attending school or participating fully in education.
Our core mission is simple: no student should miss out on education because they cannot access period products.
We work with schools, universities, local governments, and public facilities across Japan, providing free period products and menstrual health education. As of September 2026, we have partnered with 806 facilities nationwide and distributed more than 500,000 period products since our founding.
Beyond product donations, we aim to build lasting social infrastructure for menstrual health and educational equity. Our programs help students better understand their bodies and create open conversations around menstrual health.
Through our Bio Intelligence division 'REDBOX BIO', we are developing new approaches to health-data innovation using monthly menstrual blood-derived data sets.
As we grow, we are looking to build partnerships with companies, particularly British and international businesses, that share our commitment to health, education, and social impact.

Introducing Representative Director of Red Box Japan,
Kanna Oguma

'Our vision goes beyond providing period products. We want to build social infrastructure that supports women’s health and education, creating an environment where every generation can access the health and opportunities they need to thrive. By connecting communities, education, healthcare, and business, we hope to create lasting change that can be passed on to the next generation. We look forward to deepening these connections through the BCCJ and working with businesses that share this vision.'
Why did you join the BCCJ?
Red Box Japan grew out of a social movement in UK, which makes the BCCJ a natural community for us. We hope to strengthen our ties with British and international businesses in Japan and to develop partnerships around CSR, workplace giving, and women’s health awareness.
What do you most hope to gain from your time as a member?
We hope to build long-term corporate partnerships focused on workplace period-product provision, cause-related giving, and school donation programs — and to raise awareness of women’s health among British and international businesses in Japan.
What makes your organisation unique in your industry or market?
We bring together school-based support, corporate partnerships, women’s health education, and health-data innovation through our Bio Intelligence division — connecting social impact with new approaches to health and wellbeing.
What recent achievements or milestones are you most proud of?
We have donated with 806 facilities and distributed more than 500,000 period products nationwide since 2019. We are equally proud of the partnerships we have built with companies in Japan, and of receiving a message of support from the former British Ambassador to Japan, Ms. Julia Longbottom.
What kind of collaborations or connections are you most interested in building through the BCCJ?
We are particularly interested in connecting with British and international companies in Japan, especially those with CSR or ESG programs, to explore workplace period-product provision, corporate giving, and school donation partnerships. We would also welcome connections with companies in health, wellness, sports, and femtech that may be interested in our Bio Intelligence initiatives.
